Writing a response to a congressional blowhard (do I repeat myself?) about our self-defeating foreign meddling:
Representative Harmon,
I just read a CNN article that summarizes a report you helped to release on the intelligence failures related to terrorist activities
and the recommendation to create yet another new cabinet level agency. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but nowhere in the report
does anyone recommend the elimination of entire agencies that have demonstrated their utter incompetence.
Pardon me while I list the alphabet soup of agencies allegedly created to keep this country safe (dozens of useless bureaucracies
will be omitted in the interest of time): The Department of Defense (DoD), The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), The National
Security Agency (NSA), The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the hilariously named Homeland Security Department (I love
the color code scheme, by the way. Very imaginative and equally useless.)
Has it crossed anybody's mind inside the beltway that our incessant meddling into the affairs of foreign countries might have
something to do with the undeniable reality that the rest of the world hates our guts? Having traveled extensively throughout
Asia, I can tell you that Americans are almost universally detested, and not merely in Muslim-dominated regions. Foreigners no
longer care to distinguish between American people and the awful American government that is wreaking havoc everywhere.
Can't you busy-bodies leave well enough alone? Just how much destruction must Uncle Sam do throughout the world before we
admit our inability to impose our form of government on mankind?
Please (PLEASE!) stop meddling! It is bad enough that I must endure extraordinarily poor government from people like you, but
must you foist it upon the remainder of the globe? Why don't you resign from your office and do something useful with your
life?
